Christmas Week Closing

Hello Soaring Crane Students!

I just wanted to remind all of our students that we will be closed for Christmas Week as we are every year.  The actual dates are from Monday, December 22 through Saturday, December 27, 2014.  We will reopen on Monday, December 29, with all classes for that week.  I do not plan on closing on for New Year’s Eve/Day.

Classes Cancelled Wednesday 11/26/14

I have decided to cancel classes today, Wednesday 11/26/14 due to the weather.  As I made my way to the studio from my work, I saw numerous spinouts and a few minor accidents, as people are once again becoming accustomed to driving in the winter weather.

Classes will resume their regular schedule on Saturday, 11/29/14.  I will likely not be present but Sensei Chris will be here to teach all classes.

Slight Schedule Change

Soaring Crane WILL be open on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, starting with the Snakes class.
The next scheduled closing will be Thanksgiving Day.

Upcoming Closures

Please take note of the following scheduled closures for Soaring Crane Studio:

Tuesday - November 11, 2014 - Veteran's Day
Thursday - November 27, 2014 - Thanksgiving Day
Monday December 22 THROUGH Saturday December 27, 2014 - Christmas Week
Thursday, January 1, 2015 - New Year's Day

At this time we are tentatively open for Monday, October 13, 2014 - Columbus Day.  I will be asking periodically throughout this week to see if people are planning on attending.

As we move through the winter, please be aware that classes may be cancelled due to inclement weather.  We do not necessarily follow what the schools are doing, however sometimes it does work out that way.  Please keep an eye on email and also on NBC Connecticut when closures are expected to be possible.

Return to Summer Uniforms

I just wanted to announce that we are returning to our regular uniforms starting Monday, September 29 which is in one week.  All students must have their uniform tops, pants and belts, with school patches properly affixed to the left breast of the uniform top.  Any student not in proper uniform will not be able to participate in class that day, so please be sure to remember to bring the top as well.

Congratulations to our newest Junior Black Belts

I just wanted to take a moment to say congratulations to our two newest Junior Black Belts, Cian and Aneesh!  They worked very hard and seemed pretty exhausted at the end, but now they are able to start a new chapter in their Black Belt journey.  Congratulations!

Quick Update

Just a quick update on a few items.  First, I hope everyone is enjoying their back to school days.  I know some parents are!

First order of business:  Standard uniforms.  We will return to standard uniforms (uniform top) in the next couple of weeks.  I will post here and also send out an email a week or so before. Until then, enjoy the warm weather while we have it because winter will be upon us before we know it!

I have two rank tests scheduled for this month.  This is the reason we have not been sparring.  Once those are done, look for a return to sparring week.  We will once again start sparring the week of September 22 (which is a Monday).

Finally, my web page and facebook page are sorely lacking in photographs.  If anyone has any pictures they would like to share, please feel free to forward them to me.  They can be of rank tests, tournaments, normal class, or anything else people would like to share.  The studio pages are as much the student' as well as my own.
